COUNSELLING THERAPY

I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. As a therapist in private practice, I have worked directly with clients for thousands of hours while engaging in ongoing professional development and training in areas such as attachment-oriented therapy, emotion-focused therapy, trauma-informed practice, polyvagal-guided practice, couples counselling, and more. I completed my Master of Education in Counselling at Acadia University and I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Master of Science in Community Health and Epidemiology from Dalhousie University. Beyond my education and training as a therapist, my engagement with the world as an athlete, yoga instructor, writer, and fellow human being all also shape and inform my work.

Through my lens and approach as a counselling therapist, I recognize the shared fundamental human needs within all of us, as well as the unparalleled uniqueness of each individual. I work within an integrative, adaptable, and creative counselling framework in order to attune to the diverse and ever-changing needs of each client, while aiming to empower clients by honouring their innate wisdom and expertise within their own lives. I’m committed to supporting clients along their journey toward desired change and through the challenging yet rewarding process of integrating adversity and navigating life’s obstacles. I care deeply about my clients and bring an unconditional positive regard and non-judgement to each person that I work with, believing wholeheartedly in the inherent resilience of each human being and their capacity for accessing greater wellness and fulfillment in their everyday lives.
