COUNSELLING THERAPY
Anna von Maltzahn is a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She has a background as an athlete and yoga instructor and holds an M.Sc. in Community Health and Epidemiology from Dalhousie University and an M.Ed. in Counselling from Acadia University.
Anna provides counselling from a perspective that recognizes the shared fundamental human needs within all of us, as well as the unparalleled uniqueness of each individual. She works within an integrative, adaptable, and creative counselling framework in order to attune to the diverse and ever-changing needs of each client. As a counsellor, Anna empowers clients by honouring their innate wisdom and expertise within their own lives. She draws on mindfulness-based and strengths-based approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion, while also working with trauma-informed practices.
Anna is committed to supporting her clients along their journey toward desired change and through the challenging yet rewarding process of integrating adversity by making meaning of life’s obstacles. She meets each client with unconditional positive regard and non-judgement, believing wholeheartedly in the inherent resilience of each client and their capacity for accessing greater wellness and fulfillment in their everyday lives.
